Program Pillars

How YACO Supports Youth

Six pillars shape our programs — combining mentorship, financial and AI literacy education, leadership development, and practical pathways to opportunity.

01

Workshops

YACO provides workshops that support youth learning, development, and future-ready skills.

Topics may include leadership, career readiness, post-secondary planning, public speaking, financial literacy, AI literacy, communication, identity, confidence, workplace readiness, volunteerism, and civic responsibility.

02

Mentorship

Mentorship support to help youth develop confidence, direction, accountability, and practical understanding of future pathways.

Includes goal setting, roadmap development, check-ins, school and career planning, and exposure to opportunities and resources.

03

Black Student Association Support

We support BSAs and student-led initiatives through collaboration, mentorship, event support, planning, leadership development, and youth engagement.

Designed to strengthen student leadership while respecting school authority, policies, and staff roles.

04

Volunteer, Internship & Employment Pathways

We help youth explore volunteer, internship, and employment opportunities shared through partner organizations. Availability varies, and participation in YACO programming does not guarantee an opportunity or placement.

Includes identifying opportunities, interview preparation, and resume / cover letter support.

05

Guest Speakers & Community Exposure

Opportunities to learn from speakers, mentors, professionals, entrepreneurs, tradespeople, and community leaders who expand what's possible.

06

Community Events & Fundraisers

Bringing people together through events, fundraisers, and activities that support youth programming, cultural connection, belonging, and shared responsibility for the next generation.

For Schools & Community Partners

A partner that respects structure, safety, and school environments.

YACO works with schools and community partners to deliver youth programming in a way that is organized, respectful, and aligned with approved procedures.

Strong partnerships require clear communication, role clarity, appropriate supervision, responsible recordkeeping, and respect for the authority and policies of each host site.

Partner organizations can also support youth by sharing career insight and available volunteer, internship, and employment opportunities.
